WILD THINGS

Although this strange, yet ultimately entertaining film bombed at the theaters, the specially packaged DVD will certainly entertain many viewers. There's plenty of twists and turns throughout the film, in fact, some may feel there's too many.   It's not only offered in 2.35:1 with 16:9 enhancement, but pan&scan(standard with most Columbia TriStar DVDs)as well.  There's also a running commentary with director John McNaughton.  He gives some interesting thoughts about the filmmaking process, utilizing this film's experiences in detail.  Unfortunately, the deleted scenes are disappointing, one of  them is so short, it's beyond comprehension as to why it was even offered?  The picture is incredible!  The exotic Florida locales demand vibrant and slick looking colors, and this DVD delivers.  In addition, the Dolby Digital 5.1 sound ranks up there with the best DVDs yet!  This tale has Matt Dillon falseley accused of raping a high school student in a rich Florida suburb.  The cast is excellent(Bill Murray offers some great comedic relief, surprise!) and the film offers one of the best closing credit sequences of recent memory.
