Christopher Lambert stars in "SUBWAY", one of Luc Besson's earlier, messier films. He plays a mysterious man, who steals some papers and takes flight in the "Subway" system. There's little that makes sense anywhere in the film's plot that follows. Apparently, he wants to extort money for the documents so that he can fund the band he wants to form. This does not make great drama! Besson adds many characters throughout the film in the hopes to distract the viewer from the lack of any comprehensible plot, but to no avail. While the imagery is provocative, and Isabelle Adjani, a pleasure to watch, the film is so pointless, it's difficult to sit through. Goddard's films have more plot!
COLUMBIA TRISTAR has presented the film with its proper 2.35:1 aspect ratio and 16:9 enhancement. The image is generally decent, but there's noticeable artifacting, typically rare on COLUMBIA TRISTAR releases. The fleshtones appear natural throughout.
The Dolby Surorund track are fine, but there's little separational effects. The musical score offers some memorable moments, as all speakers come in hand to boost it.
There are trailers for Besson's other films, but not one for "SUBWAY".
