THE SEARCHERS
Many consider "The Searchers" to be John Wayne's finest film. We prefer his final role in "The Shootist." Still, this has got everything that made John Ford great, epic-like visions of the open-west, and memorable doorway shots, a Ford trademark! Wayne does give a fine performance as a true anti-hero, trying to rescue a young Natalie Wood from vicious indians. The picture is in flawless condition, and we recommend the letterboxed version, although the P&S side still looks terrific for those who haven't caught on to the wonders of letterboxing yet. An equally entertaining documentary is included.
