RIO BRAVO-
WARNER BROS. has already satisfied many John Wayne fans with their exceptional dvds presentations of such films as "THE SEARCHERS". "THE COWBOYS" and "THE GREEN BERETS".  But, perhaps his best film, "RIO BRAVO" hasn't been released until now!  Director Howard Hawks demonstrates his flair for action, comedy and romance here.  As good as Wayne is, (and he's really good here!)the supporting cast adds tremendously to the film's entertainment value.  Wayne plays a Sheriff needing to enlist the aid of misfits, while trying hold a prisoner until the Marshall arrives.  The prisoner's brother is wealthy enough to have hired a small army of men to break his brother out.  Helping to comprise Wayne's figurative sidekicks are Ricky Nelson, Dean Martin and Walter Brennan.  Angie Dickinson plays the romantic diversion. 
WARNER BROS. has presented the film with its proper 1.85:1 aspect ratio and 16:9 enhancement.  Again, another outstanding transfer from WARNER BROS!  The colors are bold and vibrant! The image is well polished in spite of its age and fleshtones appear natural.  The contrast is also impressive, filled with great detail in even the darkest scenes! 
WARNER BROS. has presented the film in Dolby Monaural sound.  Although the fidelity is severely limited, the dialogue is well focused and free of distortion!  It's always intelligible!
