DISNEY has been making a lot of “Direct to DVD” sequels over the past few years. Some are quite good, some pretty bad. Fortunately, “MULAN 2” offers entertainment value close to the original. MUSHU is back, and even without Eddie Murphy doing the voice, he’s still quite funny. When the lovable dragon is miffed that he can’t plan Mulan’s pending wedding, he devises a plan to top it. At the same time, Mushu, attempts to thwart the marriage plans of three other princesses about to married, but at least it’s for the right reasons this time!
Some of the scenes are revisions of the original, but there are plenty of original laughs here and audiences young and old will enjoy “MULAN 2”. Even the songs, often faring badly in sequels, are quite good here.
DISNEY has presented the transfer with a 1.85:1 aspect ratio and 16:9 enhancement. The colors are vibrant and the transfer looks terrific throughout.
DISNEY has presented a Dolby Digital 5.1 mix with options for English, French, or Spanish. The mix offers non-stop directional effects and the music is well complimented through all speakers. Even the bass should offer your sub-woofer a good workout.
Some extras have also been included here.
“DELETED SCENES” offers a few, but in unfinished pencil drawings. Children won’t like this, but adult animation lovers will appreciate it.
A music video with a song by Atomic Kitten is offered featuring a re-dubbed version of the film’s song.
“BACKSTAGE DISNEY-VOICES OF MULAN” looks at the actors involved in this production, sans MUSHU.
