Wow!!!!  This reviewer didn't care much for "The Matrix" in its intial theatrical release.  I saw it at a promotional screening in a theater that lacked any form of surround sound!!! No SDDS, Dolby Digital or DTS!!!  "The Matrix" is meant for surround sound!!!!  The Warner Bros release offers some of the best directional effects ever to be put on dvd or laserdisc!!!  There's an LFE track that's always busy!   And the directional effects never seem to completely end!!!  This complex sci-fi thriller resembles "Total Recall" at times due to its intensity, and there's virtually "no" comic relief!!!  The transfer is outstanding!!!  Thre are numerous scenes occurring at night, and the contrast quality is essential during these moments.  There's great definition throughout the film, and color values are perfect!!!  There's also an assortment of extras with this release!!! To begin with, there's audio commentary with the film's female star Carrie -Anne Moss and others, an isolated music-only track, and more!!!

Another great surprise from WARNER BROS!!! After "My Giant", who knew that Billy Crystal's next film would be as terrific as "Analyze This"???    De Niro and Crystal have a chemistry together that leaves the viewer hoping for a sequel!!!  Of course, credit needs to be given to Director Harold Ramis.   Thanks to WB, we get to hear the actors and director on a commentary track that' s never dull.  The image is terrific, with lively colors and perfect detail!!! The dolby digital 5.1 is used sparingly, but effectively!!!
