LAWRENCE OF ARABIA-single disc version

COLUMBIA TRISTAR has re-released “LAWRENCE OF ARABIA” as a single-disc presentation.  David Lean’s masterpiece should be in every dvd collection, and unlike “CITIZEN KANE”, this one actually deserves the laudations it receives from most filmmakers as one of the films that inspired their career choice.

Peter O’ Toole has never been better than he is here, as T.E. Lawrence, and he’s on screen for almost every minute of the film! This is Lean’s film in the big scope, but it’s also O’ Toole’s as well, and he is outstanding.

The epic-tale concerning the man who, for a brief time, unified the Arab world(is that a good thing?) and changed a nation, is breathtaking to watch.  Freddie Young’s cinematography will blow away the viewer!  There are just so many scenes that are unequalled in film history here, that it would take too long to mention them all.
This is also a guy film!  There’s plenty of action, overtones of machismo throughout, and it stands the test of time.  Fathers and sons can sit back and watch this one again and again and again!
The 2.35:1 aspect ratio is preserved for the transfer. The colors are vibrant in every instance. There’s great detail and fleshtones are natural throughout.
The Dolby digital 5.1 mix is also excellent, offering a wide array of surround effects and the unforgettable film score of Maurice Jarre.
