Jailhouse Rock is one of the most enjoyable Elvis films.  It's often funny and unintenionally funny at the same time.  Most of all, it really demonstrates society at the time of the film's production.  A scene at a dinner party wherein the adults comment on blues and jazz is a riot!   Unfortunately the DVD transfer isn't up to par with the recent laser release.  It's less sharp, something unusual on DVD when compared to laser.  The 2.35:1 ratio is perfect and preferred to the cropped version offered on the opposite side.  The mono sound is comparable to the laserdisc version.
