FOX has released "GLEE ENCORE" on blu-ray.  If one already has "GLEE: SEASON ONE" on blu-ray, they already have all of the material offered here. However, "GLEE ENCORE" may have the perceived advantage for fans to view 36 songs featured in Season one. Unfortunately, there are also various tunes, undoubtedly fan favorites, which aren't included on this release either.  So, while "SINGLE LADIES" isn't offered, there are many of the other great ones, including the "Britney" tunes, "Don't Stop Believin'" and more.

FOX has provided what appears to be the same transfer, with a 1.78:1 aspect ratio and a MPEG-4 AVC encoding for the 1080p blu-ray. Colors are vibrant, pushed to extremes, but without over-saturation.  Detail is consistently impressive, even when the image veers towards softness. Blacks are deep, providing fine detail even in darker moments. There is less compression noticeable, however, due to less material being put on one 25gb disc.

FOX has provided a DTS-HD MA 5.1 mix.  The lossy mix offers the same dynamic range as was offered on the "SEASON ONE," blu-ray.  Dialogue isn't always center-channel focused, being employed in creative fashion at times. While the show is music-centered, that's where this offering shines! Bass, panning, discrete effects and more are layered with perfect balance, creating an immersive experience throughout.  While some consumers complained of synch problems with the previous "SEASON ONE," there was no problem with this release on two different brands of blu-ray players we utilized.
