PARAMOUNT has released a really entertaining “ELVIS” film with “GIRLS! GIRLS! GIRLS!”  For those who’ve never seen an Elvis movie, this isn’t as fun as “HARUM, SCARUM” and some of his other MGM films, but it still has enough campy material for family fun.  It also has one of his best songs, “RETURN TO SENDER.”  It’s also hilarious to see Elvis steering a boat and then breaking into a song and dance.  There’s something quite endearing and nostalgic about the film’s atmosphere.  Young and old alike are treated with a sense of innocent affection, too rarely found in films today. 

PARAMOUNT has preserved the film’s 1.85:1 aspect ratio, with 16:9 enhancement. The colors are solid and vibrant.  The image looks great!  Contrast is excellent, with deep blacks and grays. Fleshtones appear natural throughout.

PARAMOUNT has included the original monaural track, restored for this release.  Additionally, a Dolby Digital 5.1 mix is offered.  There’s plenty of separation during the musical numbers, although some of it seems a little bit too manufactured. There’s also a surprising amount of bass for those wanting to get something out of their subwoofer.
