FUNNY FACE-
PARAMOUNT'S long standing relationship with Audrey Hepburn should please her fans, due mostly to the outstanding library of dvd titles now available.  In "FUNNY FACE", we're not only offered the stunning vision of Ms. Hepburn, but the glorious music of George and Ira Gershwin as well!  Add Bing Crosby and you've got a combination that can't miss!  Crosby stars as a fashion photographer who discovers the beauty and "funny face" of Ms. Heburn's character while doing a photo shoot for a fashion shoot at the book store where she works.  Promised a free trip to Paris, her character, Jo, finds romance and that her physical attributes are no less impressive than her intellect.

PARAMOUNT HOME ENTERTAINMENT has presented the correct 1.78:1 aspect ratio for this release with 16:9 enhancement. 
Although the picture is decent, the source print used for the transfer seems flawed.  There are signs of age are noticeable throughout the film.  The color values are extremely solid, and the contrast is great, helping the film's image achieve a slick, glossy "high-fashion" appearance.  Fleshtones appear natural, and there are no artifacts.  

The film's original monaural soundtrack has been remixed for Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. Although there are no directional or surround effects, the wonderful score comes to life with the discrete channels offered here.  Ms. Hepburn actually uses her own voice here and it compliments the score perfectly.  The dialogue is always intelligible and free from distortion.
