COLUMBIA TRISTAR has released "Formula One 2000". The dvd offers over four hours of footage from multiple races in the year 2000. An elaborate menu offers the viewer the choice of 17 races to choose from. After selecting a race, another menu is prompted, offering the choice of either continuous or interactive options.
Both options offer a complex multitude of features. One can view pit footage, interviews, text information, on board camera views and much, much more. For fans of racing, there's more than enough here to make the dvd worth owning. For all others, it's really a bit confusing to manage, and probably more trouble than it's worth.
Also confusing is the fact that the "angle" icon, typically what dvd owners use for view changes, is not useful here. One must use directional options instead.
The image is presented in 4:3. It's awesome! The colors are solid, and there's incredible detail in every scene. Contrast is also flawless, allowing the deep black of the track to take on significant impact.
The soundmix is presented in DOLBY DIGITAL 5.1, and will please those wanting to demonstrate their sound system. All speakers and the subwoofer are used with great impact throughout the races, offering sound imagery of cars surrounding the listener and whizzing on by.
