Howie Long has more screen time here than he did in his cameo in "Broken
Arrow", and while the film doesn't achieve the same lasting quality, it has plenty of
nail-biting sequences and a fast paced plot. Long stars as a tough fire-jumper,
taking on a roaring fire and a crazed killer that's escaped from prison. The
special effects sequences rival "Backdraft" and the action rivals the best John
Woo films at times.
The FOX dvd transfer is excellent, with great color levels and contrast in even
the most difficult scenes. The dolby digital 5.1 soundtrack is especially active,
and sounds almost as sharp as the DTS laserdisc.

Lena Olin, Claire Danes, and Gabriel Byrne star in "Polish Wedding", a small
film meant for an ensemble cast of this stature. While not everyone will or
appreciate the film's small but worthwhile aspirations, it's destined to be a treasure for
others. This reviewer found it thoroughly captivating. The dvd transfer on the
other hand, is a little disappointing. While the fleshtones are generally fine, the
contrast levels leave something to be desired. The picture is sometimes grainy as
well. The dolby surround sound offers some fine moments, but is mostly atmospheric in
tone.

Director Foest Whitaker made a wonderful directorial debut with "Waiting to
Exhale". Fox compliments his visual style with a visually stunning dvd
transfer. Whitaker's compositions are extremely colorful and bright for the most
part, and the color levels and contrast in this transfer make sure that they're perfectly
displayed. The dolby digital 5.1 soundtrack offers some great musical selections as
well as a soundmix that is continuously creating a full 360 degree atmosphere.

While Director George Tillman,Jr. shows real potential as a director, his writing needs
much improvement. The problem with directing his own material is that he's
afraid not to edit any of it. It feels longer than its 114 minute running time, and
although it's engaging, it asks too much of its audience for this duration. The cast
is fine, although not of the same caliber of similarly oriented film like "Waiting to
Exhale". The dvd transfer is exceptional with great color clarity and a dolby
digital 5.1 soundtrack that is virtually non-stop with atmospheric effects.
