FATHER'S DAY
It's been a while since Director Ivan Reitman has made a thoroughly enjoyable comedy. The fact that Fathers Day also proves to be inevitably poignant is another surprise. Completely overlooked in its theatrical release, DVD viewers now have the opportunity to watch and rewatch this comedy with a superb picture and great sound. Having watched both versions offered on this DVD, letterboxed and P&S, the 2.35:1 letterboxed side is definitely the one to watch. While the P&S side still offers fine details to an image, much of the original image and and composition of the scene is lost. The soundtrack is also impressive. Not only are there a lot of sound effects that benefit from the Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack, but the musical score, from the opening number by Paul McCartney and throughout, are wonderful.
