THE ENGLISH PATIENT

While this reviewer was not a fan of "The English Patient", she has to admit that the laserdisc presentation made it almost enjoyable to watch. This is quite an accomplisment when considering the same critic felt "Elaine" in the famous "Seinfeld" episode was to kind to it. People tend to either love "The English Patient" or hate it. That is, before viewing and listening to the premium quality laserdisc presentation offered by MIRAMAX IMAGE ENTERTAINMENT. The picture is often astounding to watch. From the first scenes in which apparant writing blends into sand dunes, one slowly begins to succumb to Minghella's vision. The Dolby Digital soundtrack makes the film come alive in ways that are quite impressive in a home theater. There's so "much" activity taking place through the various speakers that one feels part of the action. The fleshtones and picture are excellent. The image has been perfectly preserved in the correct aspect ratio. The standard Dolby Surround track is also quite active, although it pales in comparison to Dolby Digital.
