The creators of Sesame Street have created "DRAGON TALES:ADVENTURES IN DRAGON LAND", and it's now available on dvd from COLUMBIA TRISTAR.  While it's certain to be overlooked in the marketing blitz of Disney's "Animated Tarzan" and other "high profile" releases, this one should be added to any children's dvd library.  To begin with, how many children's programs have real lessons in them "and" are entertaining at the same time?  We'd venture to say almost none!  Sure, the "Might Morphin" shows suggest they teach values, so does "Pokemon" for that matter, but "DRAGON TALES" has at its heart the kind of good will and cheer that made "SESAME STREET" such a beloved show for decades!  The dvd offers five adventures running a little over 10 minutes each.  Children are bound to love the music, and because of this, the dvd offers four "Dragon Tales" sing-alongs!  With the option for subtitles in english/spanish/french, children will be able and wanting to learn the words to these fun songs!  Even this adult reviewer found the songs catchy, and far less annoying than anything from "BARNEY".

The dvd transfer is wonderful.  While the animation doesn't have a great deal of complexity to it, the images are pleasant to the eye, and there's plenty of color, something the sharpness and high quality of the dvd compliment fully!  The digital sound offers nothing in the way of directional effects, but the music sounds wonderful(seriously!)
