“DIVA’S CHRISTMAS CAROL”

In addition to searching the vaults for many great films that have been buried, PARAMOUNT is also releasing some surprisingly entertaining network fare.

“DIVA’S CHRISTMAS CAROL” originally aired on the USA network cable station two years ago, and has just now made it to dvd.  In this newest update on “A CHRISTMAS CAROL.” we find Vanessa Williams  as “Ebony” Scrooge. She’s a Diva contstantly abusing her family and friends, as well as the employees working on her music video. 

After traveling to New York City for a charity concert, she is visited by ghosts. Instead of Dickens’ Jacob Marley, we have her visited by her former backup singer, played wonderfully by “Chili” from TLC.” Before the night is over ghosts from Christmas Past, Present and Future, will all appear.   

Ebony’s unappreciated manager has a very sick son, Tim, and while we’ve all seen this story in some form before, this modern day adaptation is really one of the most enjoyable renditions we’ve seen so far.  It’s extremely entertaining, warn-hearted, often funny, and let’s face it, Vanessa Williams is stunning!

PARAMOUNT has preserved the show’s original 1.33:1 full-frame ratio.  The image is sharp, with rich colors and generally fine detail.  Contrast is excellent, offering deep blacks and grays. Fleshtones appear natural throughout.

PARAMOUNT has provided a Dolby Digital 2.0 stereo mix.  Separation effects are reserved, used occasionally here and there, but the soundtrack still sounds crisp, and music is well-complimented. Dialogue is always intelligible and free from distortion
