PARAMOUNT has released the third season of their extremely popular television series, “CSI.”  William Petersen stars as the head of a team of forensic investigators.  Each episode is built around a murder and through the course of the show, the audience and even investigators become educated as to how information left behind at the crime scene may solve the mystery. Sure, “QUINCY” had a similar story arc, but the giant leaps in sophisticated computer technology, testing all present many more ways to make use of evidence than back when that series came out, and, of course, new strides in computer-generated effects, help to give the show a slick look.

Scripts are generally well-written and the acting is always first-rate!

This season also includes a sensational “Emmy-award” winning episode, “FRIGHT NIGHT.”

PARAMOUNT has preserved the show’s 1.78:1 aspect ratio, with 16:9 enhancement.  The image is flawless. This series features an elaborate production design and colorful sets and lighting.  There’s
terrific depth and detail in every scene, including those of which are low-lit. Fleshtones appear natural throughout.
 
PARAMOUNT has presented a Dolby Digital 5.1 mix. While the mix isn’t always aggressive, there are always a number of creative effects in each episode, especially when the camera zooms in on a piece of
evidence.  Dialogue is always intelligible. 

Several episodes include audio commentary.  While all of them offer some great tidbits for fans, others are a little dry.


A series of featurettes is also offered on the final disc. They include a captivating look at the main police station set.  

“THE CSI SHOT: MAKING IT REAL” is a fascinating look at how various effects are created. 
“THE WRITER’S ROOM” explores the writing process of the series.
“CSI: MOVING INTO SEASON 3” offes a look at the show’s progression.
“CSI FIELD LAB” looks at the complex equipment utilized in the series.
