Andrew McCarthy stars in "CRUSADER", available on dvd from SONY. The
convoluted plot has McCarthy playing a tv reporter, whom after grabbing
footage of a terrorist attack from a murdered reporter, becomes famous.
His fame brings him to the attention of Michael York, playing a Rupert
Murdoch type, whom hires him for his network, run by news director Bo Derek!
Is there anything believable in this film? Not really!
Corporate cover-ups, sexy assassins, Interpol agents, and more are thrown
into one big plot amounting to a confusing, headache-inducing
drama/wanabee-thriller.
SONY has preserved the film's 1.85:1 aspect ratio with 16:9 enhancement.
For a low-budget film, it's surprisingly slick looking. Colors are vibrant
and there's excellent detail. In spite of some artifacts, it's a fine
transfer.
SONY has presented a DOLBY DIGITAL 5.1 mix Surrounds are utilized mostly
for subtle atmospheric effects. The front soundstage offers marginal
separation. Dialogue is always intelligible and free from distortion.
