SRP $35.99 2.40:1 DTS-HD MA 5.1 WARNER BROS

The recently remake of "CLASH OF THE TITANS" is now available on blur-ray and dvd, from WARNER BROS. After soldiers insult the gods, an angry Hades exacts vengeance upon them. Unfortunately, his thirst for retribution also causes the drowning death of innocents on a fishing boat, save for Perseus. This particular scene, wherein Perseus tries his hardest to save a drowning, loved one, as the boat sinks further and further is actually the best scene of the film and demonstrates what its director is capable of achieving. Perseus wants to exact his own revenge upon Hades. Upon coming to Argos, Perseus witnesses Hades take advantage from more disrespect heaved upon the gods, allowing him to bring about even more turmoil. Hades offers the King and Queen of Argos a choice: They must sacrifice their own daughter, the beautiful Andromeda, within ten days, or their city will be wasted by the "KRAKEN." The Kraken isn't actually that impressive, unless comparing it to the crappy effects of the original film. Upon discovering that defeating the Kraken will afford him the chance to punish Hades, Perseus sets forth on an epic mission. While there are some great changes from the first film, there are also a number of scenes that could've been cut. The battle scene with giant scorpions? Ho-hum? Still, there are some genuinely tense moments within "CLASH OF THE TITANS," certain to entertain adults and younger viewers.(A 10 year old, loved this film!)

The cast is quite good and even knowing the ending to this well-known tale, doesn't diminish its overall pleasant entertainment value!

WARNER BROS. has provided the correct 2.40:1 aspect ratio for this VC-1 1080p blu-ray.  Unfortunately, the look of the film had been compromised upon its actual release, due to the last minute "3D" conversion decision by the studio, hoping to hop on the "AVATAR" 3d success. Colors and DNR are problematic for large portions of the film. While some scenes offer vibrant colors, many other scenes are hindered by smearing and less than inky blacks. The scenes of Mt. OLYMPUS fare the worst, but there are other similar moments, popping up throughout. Detail is surprisingly, pretty impressive, save for a few instances.

WARNER BROS has provided a DTS-HD MA 5.1 mix.  OUTSTANDING! From beginning to end, this is one aggressive mix! Regardless of the flaws of the film, this mix makes it pretty easy to recommend adding this to one's collection! Dialogue, alongside layers of effects, music and bass, are perfectly blended and presented with great impact. It really gives the film the "epic" feel it strives for.

WARNER BROS has included various extras:

The "MAXIMUM MOVIE MODE" offers picture-in-picture, behind-the-scenes footage, interviews and more!

Featuretes focused upon stunts, special effects and the story, are offered in HD. Deleted scenes make it obvious as to why they were cut, but an alternate ending is really great, and offered in HD! The combo-pack offers the blu-ray, dvd and digital copy!
