In an unusual maneuver, BUENA VISTA has released two really "B" movies recently on dvd. How "B" are they? Let's just say they probably deserve a new category to be set up labeled "C"! Michaeld Dudikoff stars in "BOUNTY HUNTER" as an ex-navy seal, now earning a living as a "BOUNTY HUNTER". The film's prologue sets up the pace and feel of the film with Dudikoff catching up to one of his fugitive assignments. When Dudikoff brings in his capture to the police department, he meets up with another female bounty hunter named B.B.(Lisa Howard). Apparently these two have had a turbulent past relationship and their banter resembles the kind of repartee so common in the "MOONLIGHT" television series. The bailbondsman they both work for gives them both the same assignment, thinking the competition will guarantee a faster recovery. Their new assignment is a sleezeball named "Izzy". Izzy has stolen a car belonging to the mob, and doesn't realize the trunk has a live hooker stuffed in the trunk, awaiting her execution for witnessing a mob hit. Of course the two bounty hunters find her and now have an even tougher job, bringing her to safety. One thing that's surprising is the casting here! In most of these "B" movies there's no shortage of beautiful girls. Why they cast such a mediocre looking girl as the hooker defies understanding.
BUENA VISTA has presented the film with its proper 1.85:1 aspect ratio and 16:9 enhancement. The colors are generally solid, although not nearly as vibrant as typical in most other BUENA VISTA dvd presentations. The fleshtones appear natural. Contrast is problematic, as blacks and grays lack distinction.
The soundtrack is presented in Dolby 2.0, and while not extremely active, there is still a fair share of surround moments, although most of their use is limited to music enhancement. Dialogue is always intelligible and free of distortion.
There are numerous trailers, but unfortunately none of them are in their proper aspect ratio.
