ANCHOR BAY has released the classic family film, "ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL" on dvd.   While period films tend to bore younger audiences, our children audience was enthralled in almost no time at all!  While there's not an extremely involving plotline, the characters and events are captivating, making one wish there were many sequels to this film available.
Anthony Hopkins gives another outstanding performance as a country
veterinarian whom takes a recent vet graduate under his wing. 
ANCHOR BAY has presented the correct "full-frame" version of the film.
Because it was originally shot for television, it was filmed in 16mm, making a matte unnecessary.  While the detail isn't as sharp as it is on other ANCHOR BAY releases, it offers decent resolution and colors are adequate.
While the picture isn't extremely bright, the contrast is fine. 
The soundtrack is Dolby Digital 2.0 monaural, not dolby surround as it's been promoted..  It offers terrific clarity,
free of distortion, though limited in range.  A theatrical trailer is
included.
