The same team responsible for the "Naked Gun" series and "Kentucky Fried Move" also brought us "AIRPLANE."   One of the first big spoofs on disaster films, "AIRPLANE" has more than its share of really big laughs.  Sure there are some really lame jokes, but the filmmakers tend to demonstrate the theory if you throw enough jokes out, "some" are going to stick".  They're right, and for the most part, "AIRPLANE" is a really funny film.  Our favorite moments include Barbara Billingsly speaking ebonics and the deluge of wackos at an airport!  Robert Hays is the star of the film and while he never made it big, he's quite likeable here.

The transfer from PARAMOUNT is in great shape.  While there's some excessive grain at times, colors are solid, fleshtones are natural, and there's great definition.  PARAMOUNT elected to present the 1.85:1 ratio with 16:9 enhancement!

The soundtrack has been remastered with dolby digital 5.1.  Unfortunately, we couldn't discern "any" directional effects.  However, the musical score does take on a large presence when compared to the film's original mono soundtrack.  Again, however, the fidelity is troublesome, offering limited range.

There's a wonderful audio commentary with the film's directors.  While it's not filled with as many non-stop laughs as the ones they did for "THE NAKED GUN" films, it's still entertaining and they seem to be having a genuine good time.
