Katherine Heigl is not only beautiful, but a decent actress as well. Unfortunately, after her promising debut in "KING OF THE HILL" and "MY FATHER THE HERO," and even with the great success of her tv series, "GRAY'S ANATOMY," she has yet to find another decent theatrical film to star in.  "27 Dresses" certainly isn't it!  Even as light romantic comedies go, "27 Dresses" offers nothing separating it from the mindless fare of so many other films like it, and many of those, even "THE WEDDING PLANNER" were better!

Heigl plays Jane, a nice girl, tired of being the bridesmaid, especially after having done so "27 times!"  When the jerk of a boss she cares about becomes engaged to her younger sister, Jane is chosen to plan the wedding!  Throw into the mix a handsome news reporter assigned to cover weddings and it's all too predictable where the story will end up.  Most disturbing of all, is the fact that the script is from the writer of the vastly superior "THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA." If only "27 Dresses" had one scene as original as any from that script!!!

FOX has provided the correct 2.40:1 aspect ratio for this 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 blu-ray release.  It's a slick image, with solid colors, although they're never as vibrant as one would expect, with some comparisons to the costume designs found in the superior looking "DEVIL WEARS PRADA."  Blacks and grays are deep, providing impressive detail in darker scenes, and for the most part the image doesn't come across as flat.

FOX has provided a DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 mix.  Unfortunately, the mix is underwhelming, with little surround involvement. Separation is mostly limited to the front soundstage and even these effects are used sparingly. The score, featuring some great tracks, is never fully utilized to full capabilities, again, in comparison the masterful way that the DTS-HD mix did for "THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA!"
